No one likes it when a hard drive dies on them. To make matters worse, all your precious files were on that hard drive. Well, don't give up hope. As long as the CMOS and BIOS recognize the hard drive, you can retrieve those files. For this plan to work you need a special version of Linux called "Damn Small Linux," available as a freeware.
